Transmission shifting

Hello, I'm Alex

I have a 2011 equinox lt with the 2.4L motor and it's fwd. It has about 155k miles on it. I had changed the catalytic converter thinking it was a cat issue. But Yesterday driving home it would not go in regular drive. Like it'd go but then itd sputter and wouldn't want to shift. Now if I put it in the Manual option it'd shift fine. As long as I shift it myself. Is my transmission going? Or does it just need a flush? I genuinely don't know what to do. If anyone has any ideas please feel free to let me know. Thanks

I would start with a flush, cheaper. When was t fluid last changed?

The previous owner did not say anything about a transmission flush, hes a family member and i asked him today and he said he never had one done and he bought it with 60k on it. I got it with 144k on it and I've put 11k on it since I bought it last year.

Truth be told I didn't even know these transmissions needed regular maintenance. I was looking around when I bought it and he said no tranny dipstick because I shouldnt have to mess with it. He said he never had tranny issues with it.
