I'm looking to install a mobility scooter lift/crane in the back of my 2024 Equinox. Has any one mounted one or can give me guidance?
I need to punch bolts through floor to securely mount the lift to the vehicle.

I'm a do it yourselfer and hate to pay for this installation. I'm also making the lift/crane myself.

Scooter weight is about 60 lbs and wife cannot lift that much.
I'm in the planning stages right now.

Do you have the hitch? Could you work of that to avoid drilling. I know they sell platforms with ramps, too.

Thanks Vern! These are great ideas. I do not have a hitch on my Equinox. I though about these, but I would rather have the scooter inside because of inclimate weather conditions. Mainly rain.
I've tried ramps but that did not work so well. Very bulky.
My only option is a lift/crane. Similar to the following picture.

ok, that looks nice. I'm sure they mounted that to steel trunk pan and cut the cargo false floor so the assembly comes up through. This one has steel arms at the base that looks like they would fit into a standard hitch. Maybe you could buy two rv bumper hitches and bolt those through the floor to hold the lift. mine has a 12 volt outlet in the trunk. if yours does, that may be a nice place to connect the power.

Great idea. I will definitely look into that. I like the idea. If I do it right it will even be removable from the back! I have seen those hitch mounted ones.
And yes, I have the 12v in the trunk.
Thanks for the idea!

Is the Equinox large enough for a lift like that and a scooter?
When I have seen those, they have been in larger SUVs or vans.
You're right about the weather. When I've seen the ramps used in rain or snow they usually had a cover.
Driving on salty roads the scooter can get pretty nasty on a rack on the back.
If you use a cover it has to be a good one that fits well if you go on the highway.

Our mobility scooter called a Solax Transformer. It fold up to about the size of a small/medium luggage. Weight is about 60 lbs. So, yes both should fit.

That will make things easier.

When you flip the back half of the cargo floor forward you see the cover over the spare.

Maybe remove this cover or cut a hole in it and use the spare wheel as a mount point??

Thanks Lee! Interesting and good suggestion. I will have to look at that a little closer as a mounting option. Measure twice (three times) cut once! Lol
I also forgot about accessing the spare tire if I ever need to change out a flat tire. Life is never easy!

Another option.
The folding cover is pretty stout. Place a thin plate of metal or wood on top and under the cover. Run bolts through the 3 layers and the base of your lift.
You may be able to tip the cover when the lift is in place to access the spare.
