Our Equinox satellite antenna cover came off in a car wash. We managed to get back the cover, but now there are a few clips missing from the antenna.

Do you think this is covered by warranty? The cover should not have come off. The car has been through this same car wash hundreds of times with no problems. There seems to be a broken tab on the inside.

I've tried to find a parts breakdown for the antenna to see what should be inside the cover but I can't find anything online.

The carwash should should hold some responsibility. They charge alot, and should pay quite abit for damage insurance. I would approach it that way, rather than making a claim with the manufacturer

Most auto-washes have all kinds of disclaimers about not being responsible for stuff like that. I doubt you'll get far with that, but I guess it doesn't hurt to try. Same with the dealership... it may not be covered by warranty, but I would at least try. The Google machine said the following:

The shark fin antenna cover on the 2025 Chevy Equinox easily pops off during automatic car washes because it uses weak plastic clips, and General Motors does not sell the cover by itself. [1, 2]

The Problem with OEM Replacement
    • The Design Flaw: Tiny plastic clips hold the factory cover in place and snap off easily under pressure. [1, 2]
    • High Cost: GM requires purchasing the entire antenna assembly, which costs between $160 and $500. [1, 2]
    • Labor Intensive: Replacing the full assembly requires pulling down part of the interior headliner. Owners discuss this frustrating issue on Reddit. [1, 2, 3]

Aftermarket Solutions
    • Easy Installation: These aftermarket options attach over the existing base using strong double-sided tape without removing the headliner. [1, 2]
