Not for the first time and probably not for the last I came out of the grocery store to find my hatch open on my 2025 Activ. Apparently I had opened in from inside the vehicle planning to grab some shopping bags, got distracted and went for a cart leaving the hatch open and without the shopping bags. We old people are too easily distracted!

Anyway I wonder if Chevy could/would add an option to the system to either shut the hatch after X amount of time without the key being near the car (like with the automatic lock feature) or even a push notification on your phone that the hatch was left open for a period of time.

A similar request would be for the sunroof to automatically close if rain was sensed. I have also made the mistake of leaving the sunroof open when a rainstorm started. Although, thankfully, not for too long.

When my hatch is open, the car will not lock as a reminder that the hatch is up. I know mine is older, but try it and see if your 'Nox will lock with it up.

Some Words about GM automatic Lift Gates. I had a 22 Blazer R/S, Had everything. The sensor under the rear bumper would not always work for me, but, it always worked for my wife. OK? Be that way then. See if I care! I'll just squeeze the button.
I just happened to watch a Youtube video where the lift-gate opened when GM car went through a car-wash. F'kd it up. After that I practiced turning the "disable-Lift-gate" knob when going to the car-wash. I looked into the occurrences of that happening. Yep! Happens once in a while on GM cars with automatic Lift-gates.
OK, Yeah! So, what? When I got our '25 'Nox It has a manual lift-gate. Glad of it too! A couple months ago, I was sitting in the "Nox while my misses was in the store, I was playin' my favorite video game on my phone. ( I always win ). A woman pulled into a space across from me, got out, opened the gate, grabbed something? closed the gate, went into the store. about 10min. later the gate opened, I figured she was already back. Nope! About an hour later, she did come back. She saw it was open, looked around, looked at Me, loaded a whole shopping cart full of stuff into the back. Closed it. stood back. opened it, closed it. tugged on it then repeated. looked at me again. Then took off, Sure enough, after a bit, the lift-gate opened. I watched almost hoping someone would get nosey just so I could get in their face. (OH, by the way, I have my own dashcam in our 'Nox). Meantime my wife comes out with her cartfull. We sat and watched, till the Lady came out with her arms full. It was the same lookie-look around. She started over to us and we met her in the middle. Told what happened, offered to show her the video from our dashcam. Blah, blah, blah, she said she'd take it to the dealer.
I've watched the same thing happen several times since. Different places, different cars. I'm glad that I have the manual gate.

OH! Almost forgot. When I had the Blazer, one morning I came out of the house one morning and the Lift-gate was open. At the time, I couldn't believe that I left it open overnight. I was glad it didn't rain. But the car was FULL of Mosquitoes! Damn it!

I'll have to look, but does anyone know if there is a way via the Infotainment app to disable the auto open function on the hatch (2025 Equinox)?

I'm not near my Equinox at the moment, but if I remember correctly go to Settings-->Vehicle-->Comfort and Convenience. On this list named something like this, "Hands Free Storage" which causes the Hatch to open automatically if you are near it with your key has the option to turn it off. I don't know if that will prevent it from spontaneously opening but it will turn off the automatic opening. I originally turned this on thinking it would be convenient coming out with my hands full. However, because I walk behind my 'Nox to get into it, if I didn't walk by fast enough it would trip the auto opening so I turned it back off and that resolved that issue. Although I have found the rear hatch open once or twice since I've had it and I always attributed it to my accidentally hitting the trunk release on my key fob until I realized that requires two successive presses to trigger it. So it appears turning off the automatic opening won't necessarily resolve the random "ghost" opening issue.
