In my 2023 Equinox LT, every once in a while, my radio will not allow me to change the channel or change the volume. When it acts like this, it will change it 30 to 60 seconds later, and it will go nuts. The volume will go max and the channel will cycle through about 50 channels on SXM before it stops. The only fix I have found is to literally shut the car off and let it sit for a few minutes before it acts normal again. Has this also been a problem to anyone? Outside of updating the software or firmware, I am not sure what to do.

I have not seem that, but I have had the issue of the Onstar light showing red and no volume on the radio etc. This has happened @ 6 times - no real pattern, very random. Turning it off fixed that issue too. There is also a method to reset the infotainment which worked once. I think you hold down the home and back arrow buttons a few minutes. I have it printed out n my glove box but always forget it's there - getting old is so much fun!

Also, I was wanting to know how to keep it from automatically connecting to my phone and playing a song I played 2 weeks before. I listen to Sirius XM 90% of the time, but I will play something every once in a while. I just want it to play what I was listening when it shut off, and not what I had on 2 weeks ago. I would like to fine a setting to keep that from happening.

I have experienced this issue exactly as described in my 24 LS. Stereo would suddenly become possessed! Wouldn't respond to any controls. Turn off engine and I'm back in business. Been a while since it's happened.

I never looked into it. Didn't happen often enough to be a problem just annoying when it did. Been quite a while and had forgotten about it until you posted

Getting back to the OnStar Communication module. The technical people at Onstar told me that module can affect everything, even the time on your clock. Last week I tried to get directions and it told me I was located 3200 miles away in California so yeah that module can really cause some problems. I can't wait to get that thing replaced.

I am never sure (or at least can't figure out) which device is controlling an app I have running in my Equinox. For example, I can start Audible from my Android phone, Android Auto or the Infotainment app list. The same goes with Waze. And the apps are not synced between platforms. Audible run from the app list shows a book I have already read and does not give me an option to load a new book or sync one I am reading. Very frustrating.

It started to go crazy again this morning on the way to work. I hit the paddle on the back of the steering wheel to move the preset down 2, and it didn't move. I selected the channel on the radio, and it just started to rapidly go through channels. It settled on channel 50 on SXM which I don't have preset. I had to shut the car off 2 times to get it to start acting normal. I can't stand it when it just starts doing it's own thing.

It seems to be a very random thing. I haven't seen it since I last replied to you. Is it still covered? You may have to bite the bullet and take it in. Probably pricey and probably several days without a car. Bummer

Very random, but I was thinking of doing a firmware update for it and see what happens. I worked with a guy who did it to his '23 Malibu, and it screwed it up somehow. He had to roll it back which is what scares me about doing the update.

there is a reset procedure for the infotainment that might help. Can't hurt to try. The first one 2014- 2016 actually worked on my 2022, so I copied them all.

In total, GM provided instructions on four systems, which includes:
  • Mylink/Intellilink (2014-2016)
    • Press and hold the home and fast-forward buttons for at least 10 seconds.
  • GM Infotainment (2017-2019)
    • Press the Onstar call button, and immediately hang up.
  • GM Infotainment without built-in Google (2019-2023)
    • Turn the vehicle off, and then turn it back on.
  • GM Infotainment with built-in Google (2022+ full-size trucks and SUVs, Cadillac Lyriq, 2023+ midsize trucks)
    • While in "Park", press and hold the phone hangup button on the steering wheel for 10 seconds.
Here's another one AI found:
Rebooting the Chevy Equinox Infotainment System
If you're experiencing issues with your Chevy Equinox infotainment system, a reboot can often resolve these problems. Here’s how to do it:

Steps to Reboot
  1. Turn Off the Vehicle: Ensure your Equinox is parked and turn off the engine.
  2. Wait a Moment: Leave the vehicle off for about 30 seconds to allow the system to fully power down.
  3. Restart the Vehicle: Turn the ignition back on without starting the engine.
  4. Press the Mute/End Call Button: While the vehicle is in park, press and hold the mute/end call button on the steering wheel for about 15 seconds.
  5. Wait for the System to Reboot: The infotainment system should restart and resume its last session.
Common Issues Resolved by Rebooting
  • Frozen touchscreen
  • Bluetooth connectivity problems
  • GPS errors
  • Audio issues
Good luck!

Thanks for the info. I will give it try this weekend if the update is screwed up.
