Greetings to all - this is my first post to the forum. As the title says, how were maps updated in the 2014 Equinox? We bought a used one a year ago and wanted to update the maps, only to find out that the last official update was in 2016. I have seen CD/DVD updates for the first generation and SD cards for the third generation, but I'm at a loss as to how the second gen was updated. I can't find an SD card slot anywhere unless it's buried behind some panel. Any thoughts/suggestions appreciated.

My 2018 used a thumb drive for map updates from GM. 2019 they stated to use SD card.
I don't know what was used in 2014 but it doesn't mater since GM will not sell a update for your car or my 2019.
You can't use a update from another person who loaded the update on their car.
The thumb drive, SD card or DVD can only be used for one VIN.

Second generation used USB sticks to update, they used the USB port in the center console to update the Nav - ie, under the armrest lid.

Thanks for all of the info - I was thinking USB but wasn't sure. Guess I'll just have to drive around on several unnamed roads in my area that have sprung up over the last 11 years...you'd think GM would be better at this.

Maybe a thumb drive or maybe there was a DVD and you haven't come across one.

My 2013 Nox (and maybe 2013 Terrain, not 100% sure) were kind of "bastard" Infotainment units. They were different from all the others and GM did not release a NAV update until something like 2019. They offered a discount, and then after a few months it was no longer available. Be glad you don't have that model year.
