I joined this group just to exclaim how my 2018 Equinox has 238k miles and haven't had so much as a check engine light in its life! Just change oil when it's due, put on brakes once and tires once. It just keeps on keeping on. Is this common?

That is remarkable! Have you owned it since new?

That has to be a record for tires.
Right?

I'm lucky to get ~40K miles out of a set of premium tires. Same with brake pads and rotors.

We still need to know if this 2018 has the 1.5 or 2.0.

I got it at 30k from a chevy dealer. Supposedly it was used for a fleet car at that dealer from slightly used. I hope I'm not jinxing myself here. My wife and I are a one car one income family and I'm not looking forward to the day it decides its had enough and time for another outrageous payment. Just paid it off in May. I drive an hour each way to work SE Michigan roads are extremely bad.

That's awesome. When did you put on new BRAKES? I've got 90,000 miles and they still feel new.

I am still on my original front brakes at 136000 miles. I changed rear brakes and rotors at about 100000. If I hadn't already purchased the rears I would have left the old ones, once I actually saw what shape they were in. I'm sure the fronts are ready to be changed, but haven't noticed any negative braking.

There are certain things that can be expected to go wrong. Such as the batteries in each of the tire pressure sensors. After 4 or 5 years the batteries die. It's important to change them all at the same time otherwise if the tech puts them in in the wrong location you will never know which tire needs air.

Have you replaced any fluids like antifreeze, PTU (power transfer unit), rear differential, brake fluid, or transmission fluid? How about spark plugs? The radiator in my daughters 2019 Equinox just sprung a massive leak at 96K miles.

I take that back. I just put my 2nd set on it last summer. So it's life has had 3 sets. But that's still over 100k per....I did run that 1st set about down to nothing.
Is It possible you are reading in Kilometers instead of miles? That would put the tires usage at about 50,000 miles per set of tires. Could this be what is happening here?

Originally being from the Detroit area, I can vouch for the crappy Michigan roads. :)

Down here in Florida, we're lucky to get 3 years out of a battery. The heat cooks them.

We have owned our 2018 since new. 123K miles, many of those are highway miles. Original Michelin tires made it over 90,000 miles! We have replaced the tire pressure sensors. We are on our second battery, and I am just now starting to think about brake replacement. I did get a module to disable the auto-start which has probably helped a lot with battery life. (Our 2018 does not have a way to manually disable the auto-start. One of my several pet peeves with design issues on the 2018.) So, even with my multiple dislikes of design overlooks and issues, it is hard to complain too much!

BTW - Ours has the 1.5L turbo, and yes ... the original plugs. Easily the overall best vehicle we have ever owned.

Just thought I would update...now verging on 249k with no check engine lights. Had to put a new battery in it. I also added the auto start disable harness. Auto Bone tried to rip me off and charged me for 2 batteries, and I guess they thought I wouldn't notice!

I also have a 2018, it’s a 1.5 turbo. I bought it in 2019 with 25k miles and it’s about to roll over 270k!
Factory front brakes
Replaced rear brakes, alternator, battery and tires of course. Regular oil changes
For the last 6 months the check engine light comes on indicating the turbo needs to be replaced.
It’s been a great vehicle, my husband is about to replace the turbo and his goal is to see 320k miles on it!
