My Equinox reached 200K this weekend! I also did an oil change and started using Mobile 1 Oil. (5w-30) Back story: engine was rebuilt @82K due to excessive oil consumption; new Cat and I use fuel treatment multiple times a year. I would like to hear from you guys about what oil brand you use with great success. I will be using the 5000K interval (just can't see 10K interval for any oil)
Thanks

Nice! So the original engine lasted about 120K miles? I definitely would not go beyond 5K miles, even with the fanciest of oils with the 2.4,

2011, 180,000. GM replaced the rings, pistons and cat at 77,000, due to excess oil getting past the rings and clogging the cat. Changed the tranny fluid twice. Oil changes are done at the GMC dealer every 5,000 miles, twice a year. Had the original brakes until 165,000 and only had to replace the rears No oil burned. Original exhaust. Headlight bulbs replaced. Use top tier gasoline. Had the throttle body replaced once along with the battery. Had the value timing parts replaced once. Rust on the bottom of the drivers door, along with the rear of the front drivers fender. Original lasted 100,000 miles, presently on the 3rd set of tires. Average gasoline milage is 26 mpg.

Nice gas MPG. My computers say 23.6. However, when I do the math using Miles driven divided by gallons pumped, I get between 22 and 26.

I am retired and this is basically local suburban driving. I am not a breaking type drive and try to let the motor slow me down. Sometimes it scares my wife.

Not in my case because it was a couple of years afterwards when the Cat failed. My best guess is the oil consumption was the reason.
