gas tank shield

I had a metal piece bounce and put a dent in gas tank shield, dealership said it might rub a hole in gas tank eventally and wanted 180.00 to bend it down and beat out dent, can I do this without dropping gas tank?

Sounds like a pretty simple do-it-yourself project. I suppose you could check to see if your insurance might cover it, but probably not worth risking a claim against your INS which could then raise your rates.
