I went from the 3.6 in my 2013 to the 1.5 in my 2022. After the initial adjustment period, I have been more pleased than I first expected. Perhaps it is the improved gas mileage, or maybe that I run top tier premium only in it. I am one of those kooks that seems to think it got peppier and a bump in mileage when I switched to premium at @ 5,000 km.

and maybe when you get old, it seems like you're going faster than you really are 😂

I've always felt my 2021 Equinox LT 1.5 AWD was excellent in terms of power for what it is. Perfect tied to the 6AT as well.

Then again I'm old enough to have lived through ~50hp 4cyls, 6cyls that were barely 100 and V8s that were 175hp at best.

Is anyone else disappointed with the lack of acceleration with the 1.5 L turbo engine?
No, not disappointed at all. We're actually quite impressed and satisfied. It's not a sport/performance vehicle. Our 2025 with the 8 speed transmission has zero issues accelerating into highway speeds or passing.

I too am disappointed. It's very slow to downshift. When I punch the gas, I could almost take a nap before the car accelerates. On neighborhood 35 mph roads, it sounds like it's lugging. I'm frequently doing a short stab of throttle to force a downshift. The 2 liter was no longer available when we bought this '22 Premier.

On the highway, it's great. The rpm is up and the turbo is spinning, so goosing it while doing 60 or more feels good.

Yeah. Didn't know that. What is the difference?
Pretty much everything is different on the newer LSY 2.0. They use a cam tower setup. Lots of plastic on the engine. Electric coolant pump. Active cylinder management, etc. I believe it's a decent engine as I haven't seen a lot of problems or complaints with it.
