Good day all, our 2025 Equinox has now left us with a dead battery( 4 volts) TWICE. It had other electrical problems and was in the dealer for over a MONTH at 4 months old. They finally brought in factory techs to solve the problems. All fine until today with a dead battery.
I charged it. Drove it for about 15 min and the volt meter read 14.6 during the drive. At home my volt meter read 12.2 . I'm going to have the battery load tested tomorrow.
Any ideas or thoughts are much appreciated.

Return the vehicle to the dealer if still under warranty.

Research your state’s vehicle lemon law: https://nevadalemonlaw.us/lemon-laws/

If your vehicle qualifies as a lemon, contact an attorney and seek a refund or replacement vehicle from GM.

Why are you charging the battery and having it tested, instead of having it repaired under the new-car warranty?

What was the original issue? A parasitic draw when the vehicle was off?

Do you have any aftermarket electronics installed on or plugged into the vehicle?

I see you're in Reno NV. Heat is much harder on batteries than cold, but on a ~2yr old vehicle (assuming you bought it in 2024), this shouldn't have been a problem yet.

I hear you on wanting to sort it out yourself. For me it would be a 2 week wait for a dealer visit, the wait days or longer for a part that may or may not be in existence, then pray and hope the parts changers at the dealer actually fixed the problem. I know that outstanding dealer techs exist, but they are few and far between for many reasons.

I have replaced the battery in my 2019 2.0T twice. ~80K miles. Similar infotainment symptoms.
Others suggest that the auto-stop/restart ages the battery prematurely.

A failing OnStar module is known to cause a battery drain just like you speak of. Have that checked out.
Thanks for the OnStar thoughts. My wife hates the way we were treated at the local dealership and hesitates to go to them eventhough they are the only one who can solve this problem ( it took techs from the mother ship at GM to get the first problem fix, if it's really fixed.
I'll stick with my poor, old, slow Dodge Magnum R T that I can work on, gets the same mpg, and is much faster.
