if the hill is steep it climbs fast starting at 60 it will climb real fast no engine braking.

One more try.
If the cruise is set at 60 mph and you go down a steep grade, how much does the car speed up?
2mph, 5 mph, 10 mph ???

We are probably going to need to know the slope of the grade, but we can try to pull out the data little by little !

it speeds up about 30 miles an hour and keeps going up. The grade of the hill doesn't seem to matter

MRC that is new information. You didn't tell us it does that until now. You need full disclosure to get a meaningful answer to your complaints.

I would think you should report this to NTHSA. what you are experiencing is dangerous and unsafe. I would not use cruise until this is fixed.

The icon is showing, and i am not holding any buttons down. i set the cruise at 55, and It holds just fine until i start going downhill, then i look, and i am flying down the hill, so i ease on the brakes and slow down. it does ok going uphill just not downhill.

Myself, I would be very apprehensive to use the cruise at all. Sounds extremely dangerous.

my 2013 did the same as yours. My 2022 has some feature called hill decent or whatever and it will apply the brakes after increasing past a certain threshold - but the newer tech in my 22 also has adaptive cruise, so this is an extension of the autonomous tech. My 2013 had Hill Start or whatever, where if going uphill at a stop, it would prevent the car from rolling back. I think all newer cars have this, or at least GM. Maybe best to buy a new Equinox

i have adaptive cruise in my car... my wife tells me my speed and the color of thd gtraffic light. thank you my little helper.. my 1984 olds would slow down going downhill i got kind of use to that maybe the newer cars don't do that.

Very little engine braking on my 2018 diesel. I've only ever found one car I've ever driven with substantial engine braking and that was a Toyota Camray.
