Bought a 2018 Equinox 1.5LT that threw the P171A and B code and found the accumulator was not plugged in. I cannot find the wire to plug it in. Can someone let me know where it should be around or where the breakout is please.

Are you referring to this part that is external to the 6T40? I believe it sticks out towards the firewall. If not, most of the other solenoids and wiring are internal to the transmission.

That is the one, pulled the battery and the holder so have a decent view. Will look in that direction when I get done with work. Was wondering if someone left it unplugged on purpose to disable the auto shut off If it is left unplugged will there be transmission damage in the future?

As far as I know, this big external accumulator only comes into play when coming out of an auto stop cycle. It gives the transmission a boost of pressure to come out of it smoothly. If you have no shifting issues now, I would imagine there's no damage occurring.

My next suggestion was what you just did. Pull the battery out to gain access back there to look around. Was this a salvage vehicle? Had the transmission been replaced?

In terms of disabling the auto stop/start (which is a must IMO), just get one of the ~$10 bypass harnesses off amazon.

Engine replacement, drove fine and transmission fluid looked good. Thanks for the direction.

You'd thing the plug/harness has got to be stuffed just out of sight if you can't find it. Do you know anyone with a 2018+ that you can compare to see where the harness lives?

You'll have to look up a wiring diagram to see where the harness comes from.
