The A/C in my 2016 Equinox suddenly and with no warning stopped working. Literally worked fine one day and not the next. Had a local radiator/air conditioning shop check it out, guy said freon was good, did a scan, and said it came back with a "short to ground" but had no time to fix it, ???? Anything I can check out myself? Thanks!

Does your engine temperature gauge work? Our 2015 nox had a bad coolant temp sensor and the radiator fan stayed on for a few minutes after you even removed the key. The AC also stopped working. IDK If that's your issue. If you have a obd 2 reader you can usually see some basic data from the engine computer, I looked at mine and it said the coolant temp was 32°.. so I changed the temp sensor. It was a pain in the butt. I would look around under your hood on the back driver side for any chewed or frayed wires. Lots of wiring right there near the fuse box and electronic brake module. There's a big space behind the engine where rodents and groundhogs like to go and chew stuff up. I only say this because our whole firewall insulation behind the engine is gone and I've had to repair wires quite a bit on ours cause of them. One day I went out and tried to start my car and it was totally dead except the dash lighting up. Turns out it was ONE wire on the electronic brake module that got chewed from underneath, difficult to spot. Ended up with half the driver side apart just to solder one wire. Just insanity.

Yes the temp gauge works fine, it reads the same operating temp it has always indicated when the A/C worked.

Check your serpentine belt. My AC suddenly stopped this morning and then my power steering went. Turned out my serpentine belt came off.
