Sometimes my rear liftgate senses my key and other times it doesn't. I've tried to reproduce when it does not see the key with no success. Am I missing something like maybe there needs to be a time laps from when it was last closed or something?

The system is designed to recognize the fob (and open the hatch door) when the fob is at the left rear of the vehicle.

Yes but sometimes it doesn't so there must be a process to be followed. So far it seems I have to have opened then closed the driver door then walk away then walk back into the sensing field which makes sense I guess

Read pages 19 and 20 of the owners manual to see if you're doing something wrong.

Thanks, Lee. I didn't download the actual manual but did use My Chevrolet app and searched for liftgate and indeed there's a lot of info there. I did read about the different scenarios of when it senses the fob. There's a lot more to it than just sensing the fob when it's near for sure. Thanks to all who helped! I could just turn it off but I rather like the feature. I do find it strange that sometimes I walk into garage with my fob and I hear some sort of electrical motor switch on near the driver side passenger door. But that sound doesn't happen every time. Was wondering if that had something to do with the hatch getting ready to see me if I walk to the rear. But I know it's just a quirk and the Eq is just doing what it does....

When I first heard about the autosense I was wondering how that would work to walk behind my car in the garage to get to the driver side without the hatch opening.
My wife's Blazer (gas) does not have it or it's shut off, so I never looked at the instructions in detail.

I looked at a video for a Blazer Electric.
It shows you need to stand within 3 feet of the back bumper for at least 3 seconds.
At that point it starts to beep. At the fourth beep the hatch will open.

Try the 3 feet and 4 seconds procedure.

I'm constantly running away before the 4th beep now when I'm in the garage lol.
