I recently added a couple of LED strips above the driver and front passenger footwells of my 2021 Equinox Premier. I connected them to the lighting module located above the glove box which controls the ambient lighting strip in that area, as explained in the 2023 post titled "footwell lighting". However, my intention was for the footwell lights to operate with the dome lights, which they do, but not have them illuminated when the exterior lights are on at night.
I realize that the best (or only?) way to accomplish that would be to connect them to the dome light circuit itself. Other than routing a wire from the footwell lights to one of the dome lights above the rear doors, which would be a time-consuming task, does anyone know of a connection point available closer (and more easily accessible) to either the left or right front footwell area? The center overhead console does not appear to be a good choice, due to the additional push button switches utilized to control the function of those dome lamps independently, along with the circuit board associated with them...unless someone can tell me which pin(s) on the connector would be appropriate to obtain the power to control the new footwell lights in the manner I described. Any information on this issue would certainly be appreciated.
