Hello everyone!
I am curious about the running temps for these 1.6 diesels.
My engine temps seem to be averaging around 100/105 C. This is pretty much all the time. It doesn't matter if I'm on the highway cruising at 120KPH or in the city.
Sometimes it will go down to around 92/93 degrees C on the highway, but it doesn't last too long. It will climb right back up to 100C. Do these engines always run this hot? I'[ve checked in with my shop several times & they don't seem to have an issue with these temps. They did check what they could: fans, radiator, coolant quality. Everything seemed fine to them.
I tried to insist there is something wrong with the cooling system because during the summer months on extremely hot days, the car would actually start to overheat in city traffic with the AC on. The temps would climb over 120C.
I guess the only likely possibilities would be the thermostat or the water pump? If the fans are working as they should & the radiator is fine as well.
