Hey everyone!

I bought this car a year ago. I thought the diesel version was pretty cool. It has been a pretty good car so far, only with a few bad sensors.

Anyway, I noticed the other day when I was in stop & go traffic, the engine temp started to climb over the half way point. The outside temperature was roughly 33 degrees (C), and my engine temp climbed up to around 115 degrees (C). I did have the AC on pretty high at the time, but once I turned it off the engine temp went back down to its normal range.

Does the diesel just run hotter? Or is there likely something not quite right with my cooling?

Coolant level fine, engine air intake is good, and the rad fan was running full tilt.

You need a coping system flush. You do not state the year or miles on the vehicle but a flush may help. Also check for any debris blocking the radiator or cooling airflow. A diesel does run slightly warmer but it was probable the high cooling load from AC on high that caused it combined with slower driving.
