2.4L - Exhaust is a little loud above 3,500 RPM - Is that normal for these?

Just got this 2012 Equinox 2.4L. We fixed the transmission and replaced a cracked exhaust manifold. It is working good now, but I did notice that the exhaust is a bit loud when the RPMs are higher, like 3,500+. Is that fairly normal for these??? Should I think about replacing the flex pipe?

Hi, Eric... welcome to the forum. I can't address your concerns, but I'm sure there are others in here that will be able to.

I hope that you enjoy your Nox!

Does it still have two cats and two mufflers on it? There's also a gasket right after the flex pipe that connects to the flange for the second cat.

2.4L manifold → cat #1 → cat #2 → front resonator/muffler → rear muffler → tailpipe

Are you getting any exhaust smell in the cabin?

No exhaust smell in the cabin. Just a louder than expected throaty type of exhaust noise at higher rpm(actually sounds a bit sporty). Might be totally normal for this engine. I'll have to get it back on the lift at some point and check the rest of the exhaust system.
