Sounds like the pcv system froze or clogged.

You ready....the original software had oil changes for 10,000 miles. Owners were waiting for the indicator lights to call for this. Well, there was an inferior piston ring problem causing oil blow by which led to motors seizing after running low on oil. To make matters worse, GM would only rebuild motors on cars in which owners complained, ignoring to notify ALL owners of the problem! They did issue a software recall for the oil change cycle.
