2012 V6 AWD AC compressor Out at 110,780 miles

So, no I didn't have to add refrigerant. The only procedure I did was to spray Kool-It Evaporator and Heater Coil Foam Cleaner due to some musky smell coming from the vents.

2012 V6 AWD AC compressor Out at 110,780 miles

AC system has never been touched since I bought it new back in Feb. 2012. Initially I thought of a slow leak and charge was low. I bought an AC Pro bottle w/ gauge but the charge showed full on the gauge with engine running and compressor engaged.

2012 V6 AWD AC compressor Out at 110,780 miles

Internal compressor failure. Dealer changed out compressor(AC Delco), condenser, expansion chamber and serpentine belt for a tad over $2,500. I had to bite the bullet on this one since it's sweltering. I could have paid the $150 diagnostic fee and looked for a cheaper shop but time, temperature...

Could the sound be from the car wash equipment itself? Did the sound continue after you left?

GM Factory Splash Guards---Shouldve came from factory like these

I bought the 3M reflective tape off Amazon and traced it on the rear splash guards since it has the embossed bowtie. It was easy to stick the logos on the rear but since the front does not have the logo, I just guesstimated the mid section. Make sure the surfaces are clean and dry so the tapes...

    2012 Chevy Equinox V-6/AWD Defogger/Thermostat Problems

That is a viable option. For now, I'll take this as operator error until something else can prove it otherwise.

    2012 Chevy Equinox V-6/AWD Defogger/Thermostat Problems

That's right. I want to see the temp dip back to freezing again and try to re-create this drama. I believe my ac light stayed lit all the time during those below 37 temps and I don't have auto climate controls. I was this close in selling this to CarMax yesterday after I test drove a 2014...

    2012 Chevy Equinox V-6/AWD Defogger/Thermostat Problems

It is odd. Both occasions, the temp was in the mid 30's and raining. I also just found out from the Terrain forum that the a/c compressor actual stops working below 37 deg according to that blog but the owner's manual just says that is stops working below freezing. I'ld say regardless of how...

    2012 Chevy Equinox V-6/AWD Defogger/Thermostat Problems

Well, unfortunately, I was told the same story on this second dealership. My ac refrigerant was at full charge and no error codes on the vent system. My cabin filter is not that dirty (a year ago) but for ****s and giggles, I'll put in a new one next week. I even tried the Rain-X...

    2012 Chevy Equinox V-6/AWD Defogger/Thermostat Problems

No Ventilation Error Codes Unfortunately, the service tech did not pull up any error codes which makes me wonder now that you mentioned a possibility of low refrigerant whether it will show up on their diagnostic machine. Worth checking anyway. Thanks for the tip.

    2012 Chevy Equinox V-6/AWD Defogger/Thermostat Problems

Just drove through heavy rain this morning and my windshield just fogged up like crazy. It fogged so fast I had to slow down. Never had this since I bought it new back in Feb'12. I normally leave the thermostat halfway w/ a.c. running and vent controls on outside air and defogger. I had to fight...

    Replacement WiperBlades??

Oh yeah, this is a pain to change out. I got it done following the owner's manual and maybe YouTube but the worst part is that I must have re-installed it where the pivot section of the plastic did not clip well. This caused the tip of the plastic cover on the opposite end to touch the glass...

    On Star..

Service is "okay". A few occasions when I had to request driving directions during rush hour, I had to wait on average about 3 to 5 min. for help. After the free trial, I realized that I just don't use it regularly. If you have AAA, a cellphone, keep up with maintenance and don't go off path...

    Oil Changes and Maintenance?

Right before my 3rd engine oil and filter change (at about 17,180 miles), I took the oil life indicator down to 3% at which I had covered a little over 6350 miles or close to 7 months since the last. My average speed at that time was a little over 28 mph and I have about 50/50 city/highway mix...

    Lets see those Lights!

Yah I know, the area around the battery is a little tight. I will take a look at the plastic cover that covers the computer/aluminum sink above the battery as an alternate location. Thanks for the tip.
