Underneath at the back of the motor locate a small tube(half inch maybe) . Its a drain tube. Cant even remember for what. The tube comes down then curved and faces the front of the vehicle. Anyway it gets clogged from dirt and the condensation backs up. Then when it unclogs itself the water...
Sorry to hear. Usually it seems to be cylinders(don't take my word on that) When the time ng chain broke did it shatter apart or hopefully mostly intact? Also just in case do your own research on special coverage. R u in US or Canada?
U could remove the pcv and shake it listening for a clicking sound which means it's ok. Also I've heard of people putting them on backwards(not sure about that one). Also check for special coverage. This is an after warranty coverage.
If it's near the rear of the motor could be gasket(common). Check pcv valve(remove and shake it) should hear a clicking noise if good. If not check your rear main gasket
? Didn't know there was 2 on the 17. Anyway if you can locate and remove them ok, give them a shake and you should hear it opening and closing. A rattle sound. If not may be time to replace.
Wish I could help more. I would change out timing chain if you can reach it. Where there any symptoms before the fail? Also if you are in Canada Google Equinox lawsuit. Save all and any receipts.
You definately want to do synthetic oil changes every 3000 miles or 5000km. Go to Terrain Forum and search valve cover cap. Maybe a link or discussion on this site about it. I don't know your milage but adhere to fluid changes like tranny, coolant, and so on. YouTube on how to check PCV valve...
I saw how to check and fill or change out on a YouTube vid. I had to surf around a bit to find the right year. Also try the Terrain forum. Tons of stuff on the Equinox there
