I have owned a 2008 Equinox AWD LTZ 3.4L for the past 9 years and have had a very good experience mechanically. I do my maintenance so I am very familiar with it. It consumes about 1 qt of engine oil about every 900 miles. It's not burning or leaking oil, so I live with it.
The worst has been...
I have resolved this problem by purging the air purge valve, continuously, for 26 minutes with the engine running at operating temperature. I have previously purged the air for a shorter time but obviously, that didn't work.
The service manual explains that this coolant reservoir system purges...
Well, the problem has returned: With the engine off both radiator fans still run for about 2 minutes. One time it ran super high speed, noisily.
The coolant level changes on its own.
The engine coolant temp sensor reads a little below 3 o'clock (mid-level)
Have done the following:
1- Thoroughly...

Problem solved. Replaced the thermostat and the problem is gone.
Put the old thermostat in 195-degree water and it opened slightly, I don't think it's enough to cool the engine properly.
I just don't understand why the engine coolant temperature gauge wasn't reading higher. Thank you for your...
New Issue. Cooling fans stay on after the engine is off, the fan turns off in about 2-4 minutes.
-No Trouble Codes
-The coolant reservoir level is much higher than usual, almost to the top.
-The engine coolant gauge is working since it rises slowly and reaches mid-level (normal temperature) once...
My "consumer" impression is that 4 cylinders + turbo are not robust nor dependable enough for the job of towing. On the one hand, the relatively small engine has to work much harder than a bigger one, on the other, I get the impression that the turbos being used are complex, fragile and require...
Newer Equinox with 2.0L 4 cylinder + turbocharger which is rated to tow 3,500 lbs seems to be a combination too weak for the task. I am looking for a replacement newer Equinox but I am not confident with the small engine plus turbo can be reliable and not especially expensive with maintenance...
I have a 2008 Chevy Equinox LTZ AWD 3.4l 6 Cylinder engine.
Have been towing a PupUp trailer, about 3200 lbs loaded, for the last 5 yrs. Not a single problem.
YOU MUST HAVE BRAKES ON ANY TOWING OVER 1500 LBS! Equinox cannot safely stop that much weight behind it and the manufacturer is clearly...
Transfer case (Versatrak) is now leaking. It appears a slow one since I don't see any fluid on my driveway.
Have gotten a Haynes repairs manual but nothing about Versatrak or repairs to it.
Can anyone point me to some information repair costs? Thanks
Need fuse relay box (engine compartment) moved to the side for access to engine fuel lines below this area. With the box's cover off I can see two clips (front and back) but cannot move the box.
Need access to fuel connector to repair the rust on them.
Any help would be much appreciated.
Can't remove ignition key, it will no come all the way back to off, just moves between acc and start. Have lifted the front of the car and moves the steering wheels to each extreme but key won't come out.
Shifter stuck in park. Have pushed the Equinox about 4 inches forwards and still cannot...
