Sorry for such a tardy follow-up / conclusion. The shop never experienced the "binding" issue but they did experience the harsh downshifts. To make a long story short they said they had never seen a set of 2-3 clutches as trashed as mine were. Total overhaul w/misc. upgrades, lower control arms...
