Good day all. I may be purchasing a 4 cylinder 2011 LS with 40,000 km on it in the near future.

I follow consumer reports but do not take everything they say as gospel. According to the 2014 buying guide the 2010-11 4 cylinder is in the "Used Cars to Avoid" category as they have "a record of below average overall reliability." I've done a good look online and haven't found too many issues with the vehicle, certainly nothing like the amount for a 2011 Cruze (which is what the wife wants).

Are there any issues that I should be aware of? I look after my cars well, my 2004 Impala has 275,000 km on it and is still going strong.

Cheers,
Piman

I mean you can find issues with it just like every vehicle. The best thing about purchasing use is there are many warranty packages that you can purchase, it might be good to look into those...

Overall, on most credible sites the Equinox makes less trips to the dealership over others. I would suggest getting a V6, though. The extra power is there and the average fuel economy is close.

Before we put on beefier tires compared to stock tires we were averaging 25-26 mixed driving and on long trips we would easily grab 28-29 mpg's at moderate to 5mph over the speed limit.

Currently, taking in consideration of the colder weather and beefier tires we are averaging 23.5-24.5 mixed and 26-27 highway.

Thanks dietz4! No V6s available at the time unless I wanted AWD. With what I travel every day to work AWD was not an option. Got the above Equinox and it has been running great.
