There is a procedure to remove the airbag first, try "Google" unless
Brian, or somebody else, chimes in with the answers that you need.

This is something that I would recommend a shop doing for you. There is a pretty specific procedure. I know that a lot of body shops have had special training to deal with the air bags. Some instances/cased that a vehicle was being worked on and trying to take out steering wheel set off air bag resulting in injury.

They can go off without warning collision or not.

Why do you want to take it out? I hope this is helpful and WELCOME!

The ones out of a older caddy can blow a 55 gallon can 20 feet off the ground.
