My mother has a 2008 Equinox throwing a gas cap code. She's replaced the cap twice. I found a TSB showing that a grommet where the cap meets the fuel filler neck (in the pipe itself) can come loose and needs to be reseated. I gave her instructions, but she said no grommet exists.

She's on the opposite end of the country, so I really can't see for myself. Could someone please post a pic for me? I need to see the top of the pipe where the gas pump goes in, after the gas cap is removed.

Thank you!

Yep, intermittently. It just passed an emissions inspection today, while the light was off. Light tends to go back on after fueling. It seems pretty clear that the cap isn't sealing properly, but the cap has been replaced both with an aftermarket one and a GM one.

I found this diagram referencing the problem, but I'd like an actual photo.

Thanks for the reply!

Does she have a gasoline odor? There was a bulletin on the filler neck that was issued not too long ago. I believe I still have mine.

Ahhhh... Yes, that helps a lot, thank you! I was under the impression the TSB referred to something inside the pipe, not outside. I get it now.
