I have a 2006 Equinox 2WD that stalls and produces a P0171 code.

To begin, if I drive the vehicle in the morning, there are no issues. The car drives fine and does not stall. If I drive the vehicle during the heat of the afternoon, about 10-15 minutes into the drive, the RPMs drop and surge between 300 - 1,500 rpms, power cutting in and out. Ultimately the engine stalls. I shift into neutral and attempt to start the car., usually the engine will not start the first time, I turn the key off and then back on, the engine starts at a low, rough idle and stalls. Usually by the third attempt it will run, I can shift back into drive and continue for another 2-3 minutes before it happens again.

The local Chevrolet dealership performed a diagnostic and found that the fuel pressure was dropping very low when the engine stalled, they determined it was being caused by a faulty fuel pump and recommended replacement.

Here is what I have done so far:

- Replaced fuel pump/filter/strainer/pressure regulator (all components in the tank)
- Replaced EGR valve
- Replaced canister purge valve solenoid
- Replaced Ignition wires and plugs
- Replaced fuel cap

I've dumped $800 into this issue so far and I'm pulling my hair out. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!
