$80 for a radio connection?!?!?!?!

Why does everything with this car have to be so damn difficult/expensive?

I'm looking around at aftermarket radio's for my 06 Nox since there's no kits available to integrate an MP3/AUX jack into them yet. I have found some rather nice Double DIN head units with NAV and all that jazz for reasonable prices... until I look at the adapter harness for the new radio.

$80 on Ebay! I'll say it again because it bears repeating... $80 for a wiring harness from the radio to the car!

Most vehicles have them for $10-20 max.

Apparently, GM's ultimate wisdom team decided to run all of the electronic indicator chimes thru the radio to the car's speakers. WHY?!?!?!? I have no idea what else the radio is intertwined with but I bet I could tell real quickly by taking the damn thing out and seeing what works and what doesnt.

Damn!

I've checked to replace mine, and according to Metra Online the radio harness is less then 20$, is the 06 so different then the 07?

From all the research I've done, the 2007was the first year they corrected quite a few idiotic design elements.

Does you door chime system work thru the cars speakers or a seperate system altogether?

door chime? Sorry I'm a french speaker, I really don't know what that is!

I've checked with the Metra search engine, the 2006 and the 2007 have different harness and the 2006 is 5$ higher than the 2007, so you can get it for 25$ on amazon website.

Take the part number on the metra online website and google it. You will have the link for amazon

Decision made: I will have a Pioneer Premier headunit in the car, already have a Soundstream amplifier that I will use for running an Infinity subwoofer :)
